陰陽海的正式名稱叫作「濂洞灣」，但因為海灣形成蔚藍色與黃褐色交相映的景象，而被稱呼為「陰陽海」而聞名。兩種顏色由深到淺層層交疊，又因為當地氣候多變，有著千變萬化的姿態。陰陽海的形成原因確實是先來自於人為採礦活動，以化學角度而言，是一種酸性礦山排水（AMD）的現象。
