早期居民在溪邊搭建簡易的草寮或木寮所致，幾間簡陋的草寮臨溪而建，來往路過或附近就以貼切的現實景物喊叫「溪邊寮」而來。不過現在已看不到簡陋的草寮，溪邊寮溪邊有幾間隱身於花木扶疏內的別墅，或許就是以前溪邊寮的前身吧。
